Day-01 Chandigarh- Mandi.

Meet at Chandigarh Railway station/ Airport and drive to Mandi - 200 kms. Built along the Beas river is the historic town of Mandi, the gateway to the Jenjehli valley. Literally meaning market, Mandi was on the salt route to Tibet. This place offers better option to break journey to the Janjehli valley. A district headquarter, Mandi is also renowned for its 81 old stone temples with exquisite carvings, thereby earning it the title of 'Varanasi of the Hills'. The town also has some remains of old palaces and notable examples of the 'colonial' architecture. Overnight hotel.

Day-02 Mandi- Chail-Chowk- Jenjehli

Mandi- Janjehli (85 kms/3-4 hrs) Morning drive towards Janjehli valley. After passing Chail-Chowk, you come across a village called Kanda, Bagsiad, Thunag, which is considered a gateway to the Janjehli valley. Just Before Janjelhi town there is Pandav Shila, the locals believe that Bhim had put the massive rock there, & even a kid cam make the massive rock move!! Janjehli, with its lush green meadows surrounded by lofty pines and deodars and a rivulet presents an enchanting view. On the left side of the village are orchards. Overnight at guest house or in trekker’s hut.

Day-03 Short Trek Around Janjehli Valley

Explore Janjehli valley Locals say that Britishers were so fascinated by Janjehli that they had thought of making it the summer capital instead of Shimla. A British officer had approached the Raja of Janjehli for seeking permission to make it their summer capital. The king, however, turned down their request. Janjehli’s height of 2150 metres makes it an ideal summer retreat. Apart from providing some excellent souvenirs like seraji pulas made of hemp and household wares made of walnut wood, it is also famous for its honey. Overnight at guest house or in trekker’s hut.

Day -04 Shikari Devi Excursion

Shikari Devi Temple Jeep safari excursion (3350 m) Twelve-kilometers from Janjehli is Shikari Devi, famous for its roofless temple, the only one of its kind in northern India.. A peculiar aspect of this temple is that it has remained roofless in spite of numerous attempts made by the locals to construct a roof. Locals attribute this phenomenon to some unseen spiritual force. Return back to guest house or in trekker’s hut.

Day-05 Trek Around the Valley

Full day hiking Janjehli is a paradise for hikers, offering treks up to a height of 3,300m.(10,827 ft) Overnight at guest house or in trekker’s hut.

Day-06 Janjehli- Mandi- Chandigarh/ Delhi

Morning departs from Janjehli to Mandi via (3-4 hrs). Evening board AC Volvo Coach from Mandi to Delhi or We drop you at Chandigarh/ Delhi by Taxi.

"जय माँ  शिकारी देवी"
 माँ शिकारी देवी की गाथा महाभारत के समय की  है जब पांडवो को बनवास हुआ था ! पांडवो को जुआ खेलने के वक्त माँ शिकारी देवी ने ही मना किया था लेकिन  पांडवो ने एक न सुनी और अंतिम में उनको राजपाठ से बंचित किया गया और बनवास पर भेज दिया गया ! बनवास  के समय जब पांडव इस पहाड़ी पर पहुंचे तो अर्जुन को एक सुन्दर हिरन दिखाई दिया! हिरन के पीछे भागते भागते अर्जुन शिकारी देवी  की पहाड़ियों में पहुँच गए और हिरन वहां पे विलुप्त हो गया! उस दिन पांडवो ने वही पे विश्राम करना उचित समझा ! जब पांडव खुले आसमान के निचे सोये थे तो आधी रात को आकाशवाणी होती है जो की पांडवो को उनके बीते हुए समय की याद दिलाती है की में वही शक्ति हु जो की आपको जुआ रोकने से मना कर रही थी ! तो पांडवो ने माँ से माफी मांगी और अपनी भूल को स्वीकार किया ! माता ने पांडवो को कहा की में शक्ति -योगिनी के रूप में इस पर्वत पर विद्यमान हूँ! मेरी प्रतिमा इस पर्वत में है आपको पुरे विधि विधान से मुझे यहाँ पर स्थापित करना होगा और आने वाले समय में आपको आपका राजपाठ मिल जायेगा ! अगले दिन पांडवो ने ऐसे ही किया !
माता का नाम शिकारी इसलिए पड़ा कियूंकि पांडवो को शिकार करते करते माँ दुर्गा (योगिनी) के दर्शन हुए और कलयुग में इस पहाड़ी को शिकारी देवी के नाम से जाना जाने लगा और अब यहाँ पर हर जून से अक्टूबर  महीने तक  श्रदालुओं का मेला लगा रहता है ! लोग दूर दूर से माता शिकारी के दर्शन करने आते है और पहाड़ियों का मनमोहक दृश्य निहारने  को मिलता है ! अब विदेशी सैलानी भी माता शिकारी का मनमोहक दृश्य को देखने के लिए आते है !

At a distance of 85 km from Mandi, Janjehli is one of the virgin tourist place, where tourists find serene beauty of nature. It is also a paradise for hikers, offering treks up to a height of 3,300 metres. After covering 32 km by a motorable road up to Gohar and rest of the journey is on foot. In the midest of thick forest, forests (15 km from Gohar) is Bajahi.There is a beautiful and well furnished rest house to stay overnight, from here Janjehli is a scant 20 km away through bridle path. The famous unique temple of Shikari Devi is about 15 km from Janjehli. In this valley tourists can also visit Kamrunag temple and sacred lake there.

How to reach:-

• By Bus From Mandi- Janjehli (87 kms/ 4-5 hrs) and then hire taxi from Jenjehli and reach near the temple. A short trek from road to temple half an hours.
• By Taxi from Mandi- Pandoh- Janejehli- Shikari Devi
• By Taxi from Mandi- Chail-chowk- Janjehli- Shikari Devi
• If you are interested to do day trek to Shikari Devi. Take Taxi from Mandi- Chailchowk- Dhangiara- Jahal- Devidarh (3 hrs) Start the trek from Devidarh to Temple (5-6 hrs) Go and Come back. On the way you get amazing mountain view and forest area.
