Himalayas
is the highest and one of the most spectacular ranges in the world. The whole
Himalayan range stretches over 1,700 miles covering states like Jammu &
Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttranchal and the North Eastern
States. The region is an
ideal place for various adventure sports like mountaineering; trekking, skiing
and river rafting that attract large number of adventure enthusiasts from all
over the world.
Himalayan Regions
Jammu & Kashmir - The Jammu & Kashmir region consists of three regions including the plains of Jammu, the lakes and valleys of Kashmir and the beautiful mountains of Ladakh. Kashmir is popular for its pleasant climate, and the houseboat on the picturesque Dal Lake. Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir offers some of the beautiful gardens that are worth visiting. Jammu on the other hand is the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir and is a Norther pleasant place to visit.
Himachal Pradesh - The state Himachal Pradesh is popular for its snow clad mountain peaks, streams, serene blue valleys, and hill stations. Shimla, the capital of the state is a wonderful hill station which offers breathtaking scenery and tremendous option for adventure sports.
Uttaranchal - The state consists of eight hill districts which are divided broadly into two divisions, the Garhwal and Kumaon. Its a perfect place for adventure sports like mountaineering, trekking, skiing, skating etc.
Sikkim - Situated on the eastern Himalayas, it spreads below the Mount of Kanchenjunga - the third highest mountain peak in the world. Its snow capped mountain peaks, fast flowing rivers, hills, lush valleys offer a rare experience to its tourists.
North Eastern Region - It comprises of seven states that includes Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur. All these states offer numerous tourist places and are mainly popular for different adventure activities and rich variety of flora and fauna.
